Joetta Skaggs

Obituary of Joetta Skaggs

Jody (Priebe) Skaggs, 64, of Huntsville, Missouri quietly passed away on May 14, 2021 with her loved ones by her side.

Jody was born on July 26, 1956 in Newport, Rhode Island to Thomas and Dedie (Hauser) Priebe. She grew up in rural Arbela, Missouri and graduated from Scotland County R1 High School in 1974. After graduation she started her family and made her home in Northeast Missouri. She later moved to Randolph County where she met and married her loving husband of 23 years, Ed Skaggs.

Jody loved her husband, children and grandchildren fiercely. She took great joy in spoiling her grandchildren and granddogs. She was the epitome of selflessness, resilience, and strength. She walked through life with grace and courage. Her spirit was unwavering. Her laugh and smile will always be remembered.

Though she held many jobs, rescuing animals was her most rewarding accomplishment.  It was her life goal to instill kindness and compassion for all living things. Through her example, Jody taught us all the value of helping others in need and unconditional love.

Jody was a talented and crafty artist who could see the beauty in the most unusual things. She was an enthusiastic card player (who never cheated). She was known for her beautiful flowers and for the hundreds of hummingbirds that came to drink out of her feeders every summer.

She is survived by her husband Ed Skaggs of Huntsville, MO. Her children, Brandon (Lisa) Arnold of Moberly, Mo. Emily (Randy) Lattin of Brunswick, MO. Natalie (Dustin) Cook of Memphis, MO. Stepson Troy (Dawn) Howard of Columbia, MO. Grandchildren, Tyler, Dean, Summer, Alex, Abby, Dez, Gage, Raelynn, Chase, Hunter, Reese, Kelsey, Justyn and Luke. Seven great-grandchildren. Siblings, Tommy Priebe (Cynthia) of Huntsville, MO, Shelly (Priebe) Boyer of Memphis, MO, and Danny Priebe of Arbela, MO. Nieces and nephews, as well as many friends she considered family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Dedie Priebe and her step daughter, Jackie Daigle.

The best way to honor Jody’s memory is simple… Be Kind to others. Be Kind toAnimals. Be Kind to Mother Earth.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart.” - Proverbs 3:5
