I have so many wonderful memories of a great man that I would fill this whole wall if I started writing them all. When I first moved to Macon and the Lord told me Moberly First Assembly was to be my church home, I was delighted to meet Darrel and Jean on my first Sunday there and we soon became lifelong friends. Some amazing vacations together in Europe and the Lands Down Under as well as good ol' Branson. So many times of blessed fellowship together at each others' homes or great restaurants like Lamberts Cafe! Through life's ups and downs, from endless blessings of a growing family and friends to the challenges of the house fire and other things that life throws our way, Darrel always was gentle, kind and positive. He always found a way to turn the challenges into opportunities to share the love of Christ with others. When I was new in MO and needed a friend, he was always there and always welcoming and kind. We will miss you Darrel but our lives were so much richer for the precious times we enjoyed with you over many wonderful decades. Rest in peace, from your friend Andrew Hewitt

Darrel even dedicated my twin sister, Melodie, and I. I remember them coming to visit us in many different occasions. He was a good man and will be missed.
