Obituary of Norma Sue McLean

Norma Sue McLean (83) was born January 14^th, 1938 in Moberly Missouri to Neoma (Goodman) and Carver Mallory.  After bravely fighting through numerous health issues over the span of several years, Norma went to her eternal home in heaven on September 5^th, 2021.   She was able to spend her last days on earth at her house, surrounded by family and support staff that loved her, most dearly.   It was a blessing to her loved ones to know that all the health challenges endured during her life were erased and she was made new by God.

Norma began working for her father at the family business (Mallory Van & Storage) right out of high school.  She worked tirelessly to manage books and many other aspects of the business for well over 60 years until she retired.  Norma believed in giving the very best effort in whatever she did, with honesty and integrity.

Norma was an accomplished horsewoman.  She loved raising, schooling and showing horses in halter and pleasure classes at local, state and national events where she earned numerous awards.   Although she owned and showed numerous appaloosa and quarter horses, a beautiful big palomino appaloosa mare stole her heart and remained her all-time favorite.  

Norma married James (Jim) McLean on May 4^th, 1979.  Always together, they showed horses and traveled in their spare time.  In later years, they enjoyed attending auctions to collect depression glass and pottery.  During that time, they also managed several antique consignment booths.    

Norma is survived by her husband, Jim McLean of Moberly; daughter, Kathy McLean of Huntsville; stepson, Kirk McLean of Moberly; grandchildren, Aaron (Erica) Trusty of Huntsville and Jessica (Andre) Gross of Moberly; brother-in-law, Frank (Dodie) Mclean of Huntsville; beloved great grandchildren and cousins.  She is also dearly missed by her much loved boxer, Katie.

A service to honor Norma’s life will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with interment and committal prayers to follow at Oakland Cemetery.  Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and running until the time of service.

Memorial contributions in Norma’s honor are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
