Obituary of Richard Lee Diesko

Richard Lee Diesko, age 88, of Moberly, MO, went to his eternal rest with friends at his bedside on August 16, 2021 at Moberly Regional Medical Center.

 

Richard was born on November 30, 1932 in Kansas City, MO, to John Diesko and Thelma McCrite Diesko. He graduated from Central Senior High School and from University of Kansas in 1953 with a degree in English. In 1960, he moved to Moberly, MO and accepted a position as a Claims Representative at the Social Security Office where he worked for more than 29 years. When Richard retired, he helped take care of his parents until they passed.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army Signal Corp during the Korean conflict as a Cryptographer.

 

He was a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church and enjoyed his time as a volunteer in the parish office, at various church dinners, and especially the rummage sales. He enjoyed the coffee bar after eight o’clock mass where he visited with friends and made new ones.

 

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; John and Thelma Diesko.

 

With the death of his parents, Richard had no living relatives; however, he had several close friends who considered him family. In Blue Springs, MO, where his parents had lived are Floyd and Judy Hader and family, Clyde and Angela Wallace, Jim Dougherty, and in Moberly, MO, Gary and Pat Bush and family.

 

A memorial service celebrating Richard’s life has been scheduled for Friday, August 27, 201 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church.  Visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. An inurnment at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, MO will be held at a later date.
