Obituary of Michael Bailey

Michael E. Bailey, 43, of Moberly passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at his home.

Mike was born January 6, 1978 in Brookfield, Missouri to Randy Bailey and Carolyn (Sportsman) Bailey.

He graduated from Macon High School in 1997, and in 1999 he moved to Moberly. Michael became a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church.

He accepted a position as a customer service representative for Scholastics, where he worked for more than twelve years.  Mike then worked for ICAN Missouri Foundation until December of 2020.  On September 5, 2009, Michael married Lora Wemhoff at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moberly.

Michael loved to listen to music and play his play station.  He also enjoyed going to the pool and to El Vaqueros with his cousin, Parker.  More than anything Michael loved to visit the ocean and looked forward to his annual vacation with family.  Mike was a free spirit and a social butterfly; he will be greatly missed!

Mike is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Bonnie Mohr; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Bonnie Sportsman; mother, Carolyn Bailey and his step-mother, Mary Bailey (who raised him as her own when she came into his life when he was a toddler).

Survivors include his wife, Lora Bailey of Moberly; father, Randy (Vicki) Bailey of Lake St. Louis; sister, Tara Bailey-Williams of Moberly; step-sister, Julie Admire and step-brothers, Justin Adams and Jason Adams all of Independence; nephews, Tyler and Jay Froeschner and Jacob and Bryson Hoover; cousins, Parker Clickner and Lincoln Hope; extended family and close friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held to celebrate Mike’s life on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home.  Family will hold a private inurnment at a later date.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the United Cerebral Palsy Heartland Child Development Center, 3804 Santiago Dr., Columbia, Mo 65203 or to the family, c/o Lora Bailey, 1118 Lowry Court, Moberly, MO 65270.
