Obituary of Frances Eileen Shoffner
Frances “Eileen” Shoffner, 79, of Moberly, MO, went home to be with the Lord on March 14th, 2021. She was surrounded by her husband and children at her home in rural Moberly.
Eileen was born on October 6 in rural Cairo, MO to William Lawson Evans and Ada Catherine (Browning) Evans. She attended Cairo High School. On January 29, 1958 Eileen married Byron Shoffner. In 1964, the couple and their children moved to Phoenix, AZ. While there, Eileen worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 7 years. In 1992, she and Bryon returned to Moberly to be closer to family.
Eileen was a member of the Cairo Christian Church and later Grace Baptist Church. She organized the “Young at Heart” dinners at the Christian Church and then she worked on the Hospitality Committee at Grace Baptist.
Eileen was a loving and supportive wife, a great mother and an inspiration to her children. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, cooking, gardening, caring for her family and pets and keeping up with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will always remember her for her strong faith, her feisty spirit, her love of cooking and her love and devotion for her family and friends.
Those preceding Eileen in death are her parents and an infant brother.
Survivors include her husband, Byron of Moberly, MO; her son, Carl (Becky) Shoffner of Van Buren, MO and daughter, Catherine (Nelson) Dorr of Navojoa, Sonora, MX; beloved grandchildren, Christine (Mark) Bullock of Palma, Mallorca, Spain, Alicia (Justin) Farmer of Unionville, CT, Micah (Jillian) Dorr of Navojoa, Sonora, MX, Anna (Jonathan) Kuefler of Obregon, Sonora, MX, Lukus (Jessica Tygett-Self) Shoffner of Sullivan, MO and Bryon (Stephanie) Shoffner of Columbia, MO; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Deloris Halterman of Moberly, MO and Carol Skinner of Ashland, MO; extended family and many close friends.
A memorial service celebrating Eileen’s life will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, MO. Family will host a fellowship at the funeral home immediately following the service.
