Obituary of Sharon Kay Kelley

Sharon Kay Kelley, 74 of Higbee, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at her home.  She was born on October 10, 1946 to J.D. Harris and Irene Shin Harris in Des Moines, IA.  In 1964 she married Tommy Carroll Kelley, the two relocated to Randolph County in 1978 where they settled and raised their three children. 

 

Besides being a full-time wife and mother, Sharon wore many hats over the years.  She began work as a cook for a nursing home in Trenton. Next, she went to work in Salisbury for a garment factory until it closed.  Sharon also worked as an assistant manager for Casey’s for over 20 years.  Her last position was with Wal-Mart until she left to take care of her aging parents and ailing husband.

 

Sharon attended Family Life Fellowship and volunteered at Hannah’s Closet when her health allowed.  She enjoyed raising flowers, cooking and spending time with her family and her pets.  Sharon especially loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was loved very much and will be deeply missed.

 

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, J. D and Irene Harris; her beloved husband and her older brother Richard Harris.

 

Survivors include her children, Kerry and Kennette Kelley, Tammy and Donnie Andrews and James Kelley all of Higbee; grandchildren, James Duane Kelley of Higbee, Aimee and Dustin Harrison of Moberly, Tyler Andrews and Tayler and Christi Andrews all of Higbee; great grandchildren, Sophie Harrison and Jaxon Harrison both of Moberly; younger brothers, Jay Harris of Trenton, Darryl and Teresa Harris of Brookfield and Lyle Harris of Moberly; extended family and friends.

 

A graveside service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. the Higbee City Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions in Sharon’s honor are suggested to Hospice Compassus, 1701 A. Prospect Drive, Macon, MO 63552.
