Billy was born on April 4th, 1946 in Moberly, MO. He passed on January 13th, 2021 at 9:25 a.m. at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was proceeded in death by his biological father, Russell Grant of Los Angeles, CA; his mother, Willa Mae and step-father, Thomas Walker of Moberly, MO. He is survived by 4 children, Keith and his wife, Jessica of Monroe City, MO; Kevin and his wife, Manda of Columbia, MO, Angela of Moberly, MO and Kris and his wife, Dorothy of Columbia, MO.
He is also survived by 3 sisters, Willa Kay and Lannie of Columbia, MO, Priscilla and Ray of Kansas City, MO and Theresa and Michael of Moberly, MO; his 10 grandchildren, Brittani of Boston, MA, Jordan of Columbia, MO, Jalen of Moberly, MO, DeQuan, Kolton, Laila, Kinzley, and Kameron of Columbia, MO and Jayden and Julian of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by his aunts, Connie of Moberly, MO and Margaret Fugate of Chicago, IL; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his ex-wife and close friend, Joyce of Moberly, MO.
Billy graduated from Moberly Senior High in 1964 and attended MACC for 2 years before he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was deployed to Muenchweiler, Germany and assigned to a mobile artillery unit. After serving 2 years in the Army, he joined the Missouri Department of Corrections for 2years and then the Missouri Department of Liquor Control for 3 years. He moved on to the Moberly Police Department, where he worked for 3 years before he began his career with Norfolk and Western Railroad working 19 years and retiring. Following his retirement, Billy went back to work in household management for the Loma Linda Nursing facility for 15 years.
Billy enjoyed watching NBA, NFL games, Westerns and movies. He enjoyed spending time with his family, having barbeques, family gatherings and loved all of his grandkids very much.
Services with Military Honors will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend. Please be aware that masks are required and social distancing will be enforced. It may be necessary for some guests to gather outside so please dress accordingly.
