Obituary of Ann Powers Orscheln

Ann Powers Orscheln, 84, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Hermitage, TN and Moberly, MO passed away December 27, 2020, in Columbia, MO. She was born November 7, 1936, in Kansas City, MO and was the youngest of 2 children of Lawrence and Imogene Herndon Powers.

Ann grew up in Kansas City, MO where she graduated from Bishop Hogan High School. She met Frank Orscheln while attending Fontbonne College in St. Louis and married him on August 24, 1957 in Kansas City, MO. Frank and Ann raised their four children and she worked in various secretarial positions in Moberly and Nashville, TN.  Ann and Frank were 34-year members of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Donelson, TN where she was involved in the Legion of Mary among other groups. She was an avid reader, card player and enjoyed a good craft project.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lawrence and Imogene; her husband, Frank and a brother, Lawrence A.  “Larry” Powers.

Survivors include children, Steven L. (Ann Marie) Orscheln, of Richardson, TX, Karen (Ray) Guynn of Columbia, MO, Tom (Cindy) Orscheln of Edwardsville, IL and Wayne (Jenifer) Orscheln of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Stefani (Mark) Chessher, Ryan Orscheln, Krysta Orscheln, Alex (Casey) Guynn, Kathryn (Drew) Jameson, Adam Orscheln, Jordan (Jordan Rae) Orscheln and Jessica Orscheln; great-grandchildren, Mason Orscheln, Chase Jameson, Fuller and AJ Guynn; sisters-in-law, Lucille Orscheln of Hannibal, MO and Mimi Powers of Kansas City, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the charity of your choice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moberly, MO with committal prayers and burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Moberly.
