Obituary of Ronald Lee Franklin
Ronald Lee Franklin, 87, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Loch Haven Senior Living in Macon, Missouri.
Ron was born on December 30, 1933 in Moberly, Missouri to Robert H. Franklin and Lucy (Hess) Franklin.
Ron lived his whole life in Moberly, minus the brief time he honorably served our country in the United States Navy from 1949-1952, where he lived in Hawaii. He attended High School in Moberly. He was a member of the Carpenter Street Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Linn, MO before that. After the Navy, Ron worked as a mechanic for Orscheln Trucking and then as a Sergeant at the Moberly Correctional Center before retiring. In his free time, he loved to go hunting and fishing.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucy; second wife Virginia Haak; third wife, Verla May Crawford; four brothers, Gerald, Norman, Gilbert and Larry Franklin.
Survivors include his children, Ronald “Ron” Franklin and wife Linda of Madison, Missouri, Rick Franklin and Rhonda Franklin, both of Moberly, Missouri; grandchildren, Amanda Devenport and husband Doug of Moberly, Missouri, Jill Layton and husband Tim of Madison, Missouri, Christopher Wheeler of Moberly, Missouri, Brendan Robb of Moberly, Missouri and Jenny Jones of Glasgow, Missouri; five great grandchildren; extended family and close friends.
A graveside service at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri was held on Monday, November 30, 2020. The family will hold a public gathering of family and friends at a later date.
