Obituary of Thomas Hess

Thomas Earl Hess, Jr, 53, of Moberly passed away unexpectedly November 2, 2020 at Moberly Regional Medical Center.  He was born in Moberly on October 17, 1967 to Thomas Hess, Sr and Mary Phyllis Morris Hess.

 

Tom attended Moberly High School and was a member of the Eagles.  In 2000 he married Teri Henderson.  The two celebrated their 20th anniversary on September 16, 2020. 

 

Tom was no stranger to hard work, having started his own business at the age of 16.  He took great pride in a job well done.  Tom worked various jobs over the years while getting Tom Hess Septic up and running; including working for Wilbert Vault, Toastmaster, Foundation Recovery and the Moberly Monitor Index to name a few.  When he could find free time, he enjoyed boating, camping, riding motorcycles and fishing.  He loved spending time with family and friends.  Tom was an excellent pool player and enjoyed playing snooker at Friday evenings at his shop.

 

Those preceding him in death are his parents; brother, James Shepherd; sisters, Mary Ann Luntsford, Beverly Thorpe and Donna Stevenson and his beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Molly Rose.

 

Survivors include his wife, Teri Hess of Moberly; children, Jack Henderson of Independence, Josh (Jessica) Hess, Ashley (Tanner Newbrough) Henderson and James “Cody” (Taylor) Hess all of Moberly and Nicholas Hunt of Columbia; grandchildren, Macie and Abygale Hess and Camren, Zoei and Baeley Henderson; siblings, Jean Hess of Moberly, Tim (Dawn) Hess of Ohio, Velda (James) Ward and Louise Lay; father-in-law, John (Rene) Henderson of Moberly; mother-in-law, Sharon Jordan of Independence; brothers-in-law, Danny Luntsford and John (Alaina) Henderson; Pit Bull, Winston Waylon Hess; several nieces and nephews; extended family and many many close friends.

 

A memorial service celebrating Tom’s life will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tom’s honor are suggested to the Moberly Animal Shelter, 153 W. Outer Rd., Moberly, MO 65270 or to the donor’s choice of children’s charity.
