Obituary of Jim Heathman
James Dale Harold Heathman, 65, of Moberly, MO passed away on October 17, 2020 at Moberly Nursing and Rehab. He was born October 14, 1955 in Moberly to James “Leonard” Heathman and Ethelene “Toot” Granneman Heathman.
Jim was a 1974 graduate of Moberly High School and on March 19, 1994 he married Cindy Penton. The majority of his life revolved around cars. He was either working on them or racing them. He also enjoyed attending car shows with his dad. Jim also loved the game of baseball and he really enjoyed coaching little league. Boating, camping, listening to good (loud) music and dancing with his wife were some of his favorite pastimes. Jim was basically a big fan of anything that allowed his to spend time with his family and friends. He absolutely adored his children and grandchildren. Some of his proudest moments involved him just being a dad and grandpa. His family and friends will always remember his contagious laugh, his ability to tell the best stories and to make others laugh. He loved helping people and countless members of the community will remember him for the great autobody work that he did. Jim always knew how to have a good time and wanted to make sure that everyone around him was enjoying themselves too. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him best and got to share so many special memories with him.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Toot Heathman; his sister, Dana Ballinger and daughter, Andrea Stephens.
Survivors include his wife Cindy Heathman of Moberly, MO; children, Jamie (Len) Bodle of Columbia, MO, Cortney (Stanley) Ikpe of Newport News, VA, Nathan Petersheim, Harrisburg, MO, Megan Heathman of Peach Bottom, PA and Kaleb Petersheim of Mexico, MO; grandchildren, Ethan Bodle of Columbia, MO, Ava and Ella Petersheim of Harrisburg, MO and Olivia, Melody and Nora Ramos-Almodovar of Peach Bottom, PA; brothers, Ronnie (Mary) Heathman of Mexico, MO and Jeff (Sherri) Heathman of Moberly, MO; extended family and many good friends.
A prayer service for Jim will be held at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. Family will receive guests from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Jim’s honor are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
