Jodie Jackson was a major influencer with religious/spiritual programming at the Missouri Department of Corrections.
He was the first chaplaincy coordinator/supervisor starting back in 1987 and led the way that has affected much of how religious accommodation to offenders is provided to this day. He worked out the challenges of development during a very stressful time, most likely. Jodie provided a good example to me as a new Chaplain in 1998 and we connected a few times over the years as he volunteered many years after retiring much to his credit and honor to the Lord. Jodie often times had a hilarious dry sense of humor and winsomeness which I loved! He showed full support of my leadership in his old position and told me he was proud of me which meant a lot! We worked together on volunteer endeavors back in the early days and he was a Chaplain at Moberly which was where I started. Back in 2012, all of the former Chaplains who had retired were invited to a reception with all of the current Chaplains but sadly, Jodie could not make it at the last minute. Thank you, Jodie, for all you have done for so many Chaplains and so very many offenders. A little bit of you lives on in the legacy you left us all.
R.I.P. Jodie, you are with Our LORD and SAVIOR. I know you will be watching over your Family and that you live in their heart. I always enjoy our conversations we had while you were one of the Chaplains at MCC. You have been a kind friend that I have admired, throughout the years. Know that many people love you, miss you and will be praying for your family. Farewell my friend.
