Obituary of William Zumwalt

William “Fuzzy” Earl Zumwalt, 78, of Moberly, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at his home.

Fuzzy was born January 2, 1942 in Moberly, Missouri to James Leon Zumwalt and Zula Belle (Howard) Zumwalt.

Fuzzy was a lifelong member of the Randolph County area. He worked for the union, Local 562; where he worked in plumbing.

In his later years, he really enjoyed wood working. He built several boats, kayaks and a canoe. He made hope chests for his granddaughters. He also took an interest in photography. Every morning you could find Fuzzy having a cup of coffee with his friends, either at Bud’s Place or one of their homes. He will be greatly missed.

Fuzzy is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, James and Martha Lee Zumwalt; mother and stepfather, Zula and Obie Haley; brothers, John Zumwalt and Jimmy Zumwalt.

Survivors include children, Teresa Messer of Higbee, Jim Zumwalt of Clarksville, Arkansas and Justin Zumwalt who is currently in Korea; grandchildren, Rebecca Zumwalt of Mexico, Missouri, Miranda Zumwalt of Houston, Texas, Austin Messer of Higbee, Missouri and Nikki Zumwalt of Clarksville, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Karter Messer and Kohen Messer both of Higbee, Missouri; siblings, Bob (Heddy) Haley, Mina (Mike) Carrasco, Russell Zumwalt, Timmy Zumwalt, Tommy Zumwalt, Danny Zumwalt, Linda Macon and Brenda Taley cousins, extended family and close friends.

A memorial service celebrating William “Fuzzy” Earl Zumwalt’s life will be held Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, Missouri.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
