Obituary of Billy Vorhees
Billy W. Vorhees, 83, of Moberly, passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2020 at Moberly Nursing and Rehab. He was born May 29, 1937 in Huntsville, MO to George and Oleta Courier Vorhees.
Billy attended high school in the Moberly area. On November 19, 1980 he married Jane Brockman.
Billy began his working career as a bus driver for Missouri Transit. He later went to work as a paint mixer at Dupont from 1978 to 1995 when he retired. Not enjoying retirement as much as he thought he went back to work, this time as a bus driver and mechanic for the Moberly School District.
He was a member of Central Christian Church and belonged to the Huntsville Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he liked to watch tv, especially John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies. He enjoyed mowing the lawn and relaxing with family. Billy also loved going to Disney World in Florida. He and Jane enjoyed taking their granddaughter, Jennifer. The last time they went, they took his daughter, Karla, her husband, Chuck and grandchildren, Jason and Stephanie.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Vorhees of Moberly, MO; children, Marica (Keith) Chaney of Ozark, MO, Karla (Chuck) Gates of Braymer, MO and stepson, John Dutton of Marshall, MO; grandchildren, Jennifer (Cody) Greenhaw of Republic, MO, and Jason Gates and Stephanie Gates both of Braymer, MO; great grandson, Finley Greenhaw of Republic; extended family and friends.
A private graveside service celebrating Billy’s life will be held at a later date.
