Obituary of Rhonda Hall
Rhonda Hall, age 68, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, August 16, 2020 in Council Bluffs, IA. She was born August 30, 1951, in Great Bend, KS, to Luke and Lila (Weber) Hall. She grew up in an extended family of siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins where her father was the quintessential Kansas wheat farmer. After attending parochial school, she went on to study for her BA in Communications at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, KS. It was there that she fell in love with the theatre.
While she made a living as a project coordinator, project administrator and training specialist, her evenings and weekends were spent working with Metro Omaha theatres and Arts organizations serving on boards, building props, taking tickets and whatever else was necessary to ensure a successful production. In her 40+ years in the Omaha theatre community, she worked with the Norton Theatre, SNAP! Productions, Shelterbelt Theatre, Circle Theatre, Bellevue Little Theatre, Ibsen Costume Gallery, Omaha Symphony, and the Omaha Press Club, among many others. She was a long-time member of the Opera Omaha Craftsman’s Guild and a past-president. She was awarded lifetime achievement awards from Opera Omaha and the Theatre Arts Guild. She was a properties master and production manager for Chanticleer Community Theatre for many years, and in their new home at the Hoff Arts and Cultural Center in Council Bluffs. In her final 3 years, she found her home, right across the street at Harvester Artspace Lofts, a home for artists in the Heartland, where she also designed and created jewelry.
She is survived by her sister, Anita Exline of Topeka, KS, and two brothers, Kevin Hall of Moberly, MO and Brett Hall of Spring, TX.
A service will be held locally by her theatre community and will be announced soon. Rhonda will be returning to rest alongside her parents at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Seward, Kansas. An internment service will be scheduled at a later date. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Chanticleer Scholarship Fund in her name. Donations can be mailed to Chanticleer Community Theatre, 1001 South 6th Street, Council Bluffs, IA 51501.
