Bennie was a lifelong member of the Randolph County area. He attended and graduated from Higbee Public Schools. After high school, Bennie enlisted into the Air Force, where he honorably served overseas during the Korean War.

Bennie was a remarkable man, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
