Obituary of Steven Ray Burton

Steven Ray Burton, 66, of Moberly MO, passed away Monday, October 7th, 2019 at Moberly Regional Medical Center.

Steve was born March 23rd, 1953 in Moberly, MO to Charles Burton and Mary Garnell Dale Burton. He was a lifelong resident of Moberly. Steve graduated from Moberly Senior High School where he was an avid member FFA. Upon graduation, he went on to become a truck driver; driving for primarily for Land Concrete, Botkins Trucking and Heilig Meyer. On July 7, 1972, he married Linda Kay Briscoe and they spent many happy years together. In younger years, Steve liked coaching his daughter Kim in softball and did a little street racing.  Later he enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching softball and drag racing.  Steve had an ornery sense of humor.  His great granddaughter jokingly called him her grouchy a$$ grandpa while friends referred to him by his C B handle….Buzzard Bait.  He will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda; brothers, Leonard Dale and Billy Burton and sister, Peggy Courtney.

Survivors include his four children, Kimberly (Charles) Bailey of Moberly, MO, James (Melissa) Burton of Wellsville, MO, Tracy Carney of Moberly, MO and Shawn (Abby) Burton of Boonville, MO; grandchildren, Trevor Bailey and Mikayla Bailey both of Moberly, MO, Dakota Bailey of La Grange, MO, Devyn Burton and Ethan Burton both of Wellsville, MO, Lukas Carney and Izik Burton both of Moberly, MO, Noah Ritter, Henlee Burton and Emelia Burton all of Boonville; great granddaughter, Annie Mae Bailey and great granddaughter, Harley Bailey on the way; his step-mother, Mary Burton; brother, Mike Burton of Jacksonville, MO; step siblings, Lester (Sheryl) Dale of Jacksonville, MO, Lawrence (Betty) Dale of Columbia, MO and Linda Filbin of Moberly, MO; extended family and close friends.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home.  Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
