Obituary of Loretta Hildreth

Loretta Della Hildreth, 79, of Cairo, MO passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Clarence Care Center, with her husband Chuck by her side. Loretta was born February 12, 1940 in Lenox, MO to Alva and Cecil (Matlock) Dawson.

Loretta graduated from high school in Licking, MO when she was just 15 years old. She then went onto graduate from beauty college at age 16, working as a cosmetologist for several years. She then went back to school to earn her real estate license, working for Gundaker Realty until 1975. Loretta lived in the suburbs of St. Louis for 17 years, before moving to Randolph County in 1975.  In 1975, her husband Chuck built her a beauty shop, from there she continued her job as a cosmetologist for the next 42 years, closing shop in 2017. She was also known around her area as being a Mary Kay consultant. She was a very active member of the Jacksonville/Cairo Christian Church, and even taught Sunday school.

Before her children came along, she loved to go fishing and hunting with her husband. Loretta was a social butterfly, she loved to be around people. She started the Cairo Red Hats Society, loved to play cards, especially a good game of Uno, and while not a quilter herself, she was always placed in charge of the Quilt Show at Pioneer Days.  

Loretta is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lee Dawson; sisters, Lola Parker, Leta Edwards and Lillie Slayton.

Survivors include her husband, Chuck Hildreth; her sons, Fred (Stephanie) Hildreth of Kansas City, MO, and Frank Hildreth of Higbee, MO; grandchildren, Zachary Hildreth of Kansas City, MO, Bryce, Alyssa and Brett Hildreth of Moberly, MO; great grandchildren, Rylan, Wesley and Paizlee of Moberly, MO; sister, Lois Werner of St. Louis, MO; extended family and close friends.

Services celebrating Loretta's life will be held Monday, September 9, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held on September 9, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. till time of service, at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home.
