Obituary of Donald M. Burkett

Donald M. Burkett, 81, of Moberly, passed away September 6, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Don was born March 1, 1937 in Grand Ridge, IL to Menzie Burkett and Mary Failey Burkett. He was a graduate of Milton High School in WI. Don served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1955 through 1959. He moved to Moberly in 1969 where he worked as a general contractor. On January 2, 1970 he married Kerry Siebuhr at the West Park United Methodist Church. In later life Don drove tour buses all over the United States for Tiger Coaches and Mid-America Tours. He got to meet many fun people and see a lot of different things. Don enjoyed watching baseball, basketball and football; working on his computer and fishing in Canada with his sons. Donald’s parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Kerry of Moberly, MO; his children, Jeffrey (Reggie) Burkett of Morris, IL. Scott Burkett of St. Charles, MO, Brian (Jennifer) Burkett of Beebe, AR and Kelly Burkett of Moberly, MO; Nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Joan Hilton of Milton, WI, Dale (Jean) Burkett of Janesville, WI, Jim (Norma) Burkett of Beloit, WI and Dave (Chris) Burkett of Milton, WI; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Graveside services celebrating Don’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home.
