Obituary of Cheryl Ann Wilson
Cheryl Ann (Hart) Wilson, 67-years-old, of Moberly passed away on Tuesday morning, November 20, 2018 at Ravenwood assisted living in Moberly. Cheryl was born at Woodland Hospital in Moberly on October 18, 1951 to Mr. and Mrs. Frank William Hart, but spent the majority of her childhood living with her beloved grandparents, Catherine Kelly Hart and Paul Hart; all of which proceeded her in death.
She is survived by two sons; Mr. and Mrs. Jim and Kellie Smothers of Moberly, Mr. and Mrs. Steve and Kristie Wilson of Hallsville. Five grandchildren; Will (18) and Drew Allen (10) Smothers; Stephen (19), Paul (16), and Ruthie (15) Wilson. Three brothers; Dana (Cara) Hart of Moberly, Lee (Sarah) Moore of Liberty and Charlie (Virginia) Moore from out of the area. Two sisters; Cathy Nichols of Michigan and Sherry (Larry) Schermerhorn of Huntsville. Cousins; Mike and Rhonda Hart of Renick; Dee and Marion Embree of Moberly; Jamie and Donnie Hart of Columbia and Pat and Alice Blythe of Kansas City. As well as several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Cheryl was a graduate of Moberly Senior High School and a member of First Baptist Church in Moberly. She enjoyed attending church, (regardless of the denomination) she simply loved to sing and rejoice with all of God’s children. Cheryl’s love and passion-excitement for the holiday season was contagious; it was not surprising to arrive at her annual Christmas Eve festivities and find a complete stranger at the dinner table. Well, only if he or she was willing to join in singing as Santa made his “live” appearance which shortly followed as he delivered gifts for EVERYONE! Even last minutes guests seemed to always have a gift addressed especially for them. Being at Grandma Cheryl’s house was exactly like closing your eyes, taking a deep breath and smelling and feeling Christmas morning.
Cheryl believed in love, the magic of Christmas and most of all her five precious grandchildren. There were no rules at “Grandma’s house”. She was a “pillow fighter” and “bed jumper”, as long as you did “not tell Jimmy!’ Her love for sports grew as she went along for weekend baseball tournaments and wrestling matches. As long as one of these five blessings was involved, she was their biggest fan!
