Obituary of Barbara Ann Freels

Barbara Ann Freels, 72, lifelong resident of Randolph County passed away on May 22, 2014 in Columbia, MO with her immediate family by her side. She began her life’s journey on April 22, 1942, born to Joseph Bryant and Fonda Smith Bryant. Married to James W. Freels on February 17, 1962 in Moberly, she shared 52 wonderful years of her life with him. Barbara spent 46 years selling real estate in the Randolph County area. Known as Barb to her customers, she took great satisfaction in finding homes for up to 3 generations of many families. She started her career at Soule Realty and then continued by working at Century 21 McKeown & Associates, Coldwell Banker and ended her career at Advantage Real Estate. Barbara was the biggest fan when it came to supporting her kids and grandkids sporting events, livestock shows, and all the other programs and events they were a part of. You could often find her at local nurseries picking out new additions to her many flower gardens. Nurturing flowers and plants as well as helping care for her pets, cattle & horses were some of her favorite things to do. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was well known for her contagious laugh. Barbara had a strong sense of family values that she managed to pass along to her children and their children. Sunday dinners or trips anywhere were a priority in her life as long as they were together as a family. Preceding Barbara in death are her parents. She is survived by her husband James, children Denise Freels, Cheri (Doug) Galaske all of Moberly, Jamey Freels (Jessica) of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren Joseph, Maggie and Andrew Galaske all of Moberly, and Bridgette Freels of Portland, Oregon; sister Jessie Kitchen of Moberly, and sister Martha Winter (Mel) of Columbia. Services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00am at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, MO with interment to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Madison, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home.
