Obituary of Elvin Kermit Rhodman

Elvin Kermit Rhodman, 83, of Moberly, passed away, Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO. Elvin was born April 6, 1931, in Laurel NE to Kermit and Zora Mae (Isom) Rhodman. He was a man of many talents. He worked at a packing house in Sioux City, IA, was a farmer in Oto, IA and Yates, MO, and owned a Body shop in Anthon, IA, was a contractor in Yates and Milan, MO. Elvin built 7 turnkey houses and Peace Lutheran Church in Milan, MO. Elvin and his wife Pat owned El Rancho restaurant in Milan, Mo and later worked as maintenance managers for an apartment building in Norwalk, CA. On March 15th of 1951 he married Patricia Ann Schoennoehl in Fayette, MO. Both Elvin and Patricia lived in Nebraska. When Patricia’s father relocated his family to Missouri, Elvin followed. He married Patricia and they moved back to Nebraska. They both loved to travel, having been to the mountains and the desert, as well as annual trips to Texas in the fall. His son took them both to the Black Hills this summer as Elvin wanted to see them one last time. Those preceding him in death are his parents; 3 brothers, Roy Rhodman, Walter Rhodman and Norman Rhodman; 1 sister, Lucille Kraft; 2 sisters-in-law, Sharon Schoennoehl and Janette Rhodman; 4 brothers-in-law, William Kraft, Lloyd Kraft, Charles Wells and Dedrick Von Mindon and numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of Moberly; his children, Beverly (Hershel) Stevenson, of Pella IA, JoAnn (Dean) Nokes of Pella, IA, Theresa Orr (David Sneller) of Harvey, IA and Russell (Janice) Rhodman of Moberly, MO; grandchildren, Daniel (Jennifer) Stevenson, Joseph Stevenson, Cindy (Kurtis) Grubb, Bron (Cindy) Stevenson, Alice Grimes, Amy (Eric) Martin, Cody Orr, Wyatt (Jacie) Orr, Roley Rhodman, and Rachel (Larry) Davis; great grandchildren, Nathaniel (Samantha) Stevenson, Jakob Stevenson, Emma Stevenson, Hannah Stevenson, Owen Grubb, Karter Grubb, Kellie Stevenson, Dillion Stevenson, Mercedes Grimes, Devan Grimes, Jade Martin, Jessie Orr, Elvin Rhodman and Haley Rhodman; step granddaughter, Mallory Sneller, step great grandchildren, EJ (Kassie) Martin, Prince Davis, Robbie Davis, Kyle Davis; step great great grandchildren, Victoria Martin, Christopher Davis, Cooper Davis, Donavon Davis, Isabella Davis and Roman Davis; sisters, Marie Von Mindon of Sioux Falls, SD, LaVern Kraft of Sac City, IA and Marilyn (Larry) Mahler of Sac City, IA; sisters-in-law, Betty Rhodman, Ilene Rhodman and Betty Jo Wells; brother-in-law Floyd Schoennoehl; and numberous beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. Services celebrating Elvin’s life will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Moberly, MO with Rev. Dr. Ken Schurb officiating. Interment will follow at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Armstrong, MO. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Zion Lutheran Church, 1075 E. Urbandale Dr., Moberly, MO 65270.
