Obituary of Debra Sue Sumpter
Debra Sue Sumpter, 58, of Moberly, passed away at her home Monday, September 22, 2014. Debra was born in Huntsville on June 8, 1956 to Roy Lee Summers and Deloris Faye Hughes. She married Gerald Sumpter October 30, 1972 in Salem, Arkansas and he survives of the home. Debra spent her entire life in the Moberly area except for six years when Gerald was serving in the military and they resided in Germany where their two sons were born. She enjoyed crafts, riding horses, baking, and watching her sons play baseball. She worked many years for her mother as an upholsterer in Dee Dee’s Upholstery Shop.
Preceding her in death is her mother and father as well as two aunts, Shirley Nichols and Nina Owens.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Jerry O. Sumpter (Rhonda Wilson) of Holts Summit, MO, Christopher Lee Sumpter (Mary) of Bevier, MO; her sisters Connie Lee Holder (Michael) of Dittmer, MO, Loretta Ann Summers of Macon, and Crystal Auberline; daughter-in-law, Tara Sumpter of Higbee; grandchildren: Jarrett Sumpter of Republic, Conner Sumpter of Higbee, Lily Christine Sumpter of Bevier, Brenna Faith Sumpter of Higbee, Devin Lee Sumpter of Bevier and Macey Canaday; an aunt, Mary Nichols, an uncle, Clifford Hughes, extended family and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly with a private burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions would be appreciated to The American Cancer Society, 1900 N. Providence Road Ste 105, Columbia, MO 65202.
