Obituary of Patricia Lee Brown

Patricia L. Richards Brown, born October 10, 1934 in Greenfield, Massachusetts passed away on November 23, 2014 in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 80. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Adelaide (Ayer) and Harry Blackington Richards and brother, Harry B. Richards, Jr., and sister, Letty Amber Richards Snow. Pat’s great love was her family. She attended every possible school, sporting event, and achievement ceremony for her children and grandchildren. Pat also enjoyed extensive family road trips. She enjoyed the outdoors and won the Distinguished Rifleman Medal at the age of 18. She loved working with therapeutic horses, knitting and sailing. Her smile and impish sense of humor will be missed. She is survived by her husband, Merton F. Brown, Jr. of Columbia, MO; step-mother Ann Richards of Burlington, VT; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Lee Brown of Houston, TX; son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Kim Brown of Moberly, MO; and daughter, Judith Brown of Houston, TX; half-sister, Barbara Maslack of Burlington, VT; and half-brother, David Richards. She is also survived by grandchildren Andrew (Kristen) Brown of Denver, CO; Jessica Brown of Columbia, MO; Heather (Jeremy) Curtis of La Plata, MO; James (Amanda) Brown of Houston, TX; and Alexandra Brown of Houston, TX; and one precious great grandbaby, Jacob Curtis. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home with a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at a later date in Oakland Cemetery. Friends and loved ones wanting to contribute are asked in lieu of flowers to donate to a charity benefiting dementia research or treatment. Pathway Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
