Obituary of Jennifer Lea Riley Cox
Jennifer Lea Riley Cox, 44, of Cypress, Texas, formerly of Moberly, passed away peacefully at her home June 14, 2015 surrounded by her family.
Jennifer was born November 21, 1970 in Moberly to Jim Riley and Priscilla Clark Riley. She graduated from Moberly schools in 1989 and the University of Missouri in 1993 with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. Jennifer married David Cox on March 26, 1994 in Moberly.
Jennifer was a strong, courageous young woman who was known for her smile and kindness. After marrying, Jennifer and David moved to Orlando, Florida where Jennifer worked for the Walt Disney Company. Eventually settling in Texas, they completed their family with the adoption of Sydney from the Jiangxi province of China. Jennifer brought joy to everyone around her and loved to travel with her family and spend time with friends. Although the last four and a half years presented serious challenges, she always maintained her beautiful smile, optimism, faith and love of life.
Those preceding Jennifer in death are her grandparents Myron and Birdie Riley of Huntsville and Bill and Betty Clark of Moberly. Also, her father-in-law Wayne Cox of Huntsville and uncle John Victor Riley of Moberly.
She is survived by her husband David and daughter Sydney; parents, Jim and Priscilla; mother-in-law Faye Cox-Burkiett of Cuba, Illinois; her sister Jill (Scott) Riley of Houston, Texas; brother Jeremy (Kerry) Riley of San Diego, California; sister-in-law Lori (Nate) Kohl of Harrisburg, Missouri; grandmother Donna Clark of Moberly, Missouri; lifelong friend Laura Lawless of Cypress, Texas; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Services celebrating Jennifer’s life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, MO with a celebration following at The Brick at 4:00 p.m. A memorial visitation will be Friday evening, June 19, 2015 from 6:00 ~ 9:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. An additional service will be held the following week at the Lakewood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to Living Memorial Scholarship at P.O. Box 100, Huntsville, MO 65259 with Jennifer’s name in a memo.
