Obituary of Patricia Louise Sims
Patricia Louise Sims, 91, of Moberly, MO, joined her late husband, Will Ben Sims in eternal happiness, on March 19, 2016, in the presence of her family and loved ones.
Patsy was born on October 19, 1924 in Moberly, MO to August William and Inez Fields Gordon Merck. She graduated from Moberly High School and was a member of the University of Missouri Alumni Club. Patsy was also a lifelong member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She married Will Ben Sims on September 4, 1946 in Moberly, MO. They shared 48 years of marriage.
As an optimistic people person, Patsy greatly enjoyed entertaining in her home as well as traveling with family and friends. She was active in the community through the St. Pius X Catholic Church, the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, the Moberly Country Club and the Missouri Bankers Association.
Her family and friends will always remember her as ‘Mimi’ for her great sense of humor who loved her bridge leagues, card games with family, cooking and entertaining.
She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Inez Merck; husband, Will Ben Sims; siblings, Fields Merck and Mary Margaret Merck; daughter, Mary Susan Sims Riffel and son in law, Stephen L. Riffel.
Patsy is survived by her children, William D. Sims of Jefferson City, MO, Shelley Fiess of St. Louis, MO and Dan (Nikki) Sims of Leawood, KS; as well as ten grandchildren: April (Scott) Mistler; Andrew McGregor, Meredith (Tysen) Williams; Matthew Fiess, Blair Fiess, Camille Fiess and Hannah Fiess; Kate Sims, Will Ben Sims II and Mary Margaret Sims and four great grandchildren. The family would like to give a heartfelt” thank you” to caregiver, Ginger Miller, for her faithful support and friendship to Patsy during the past few years.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Patsy’s life has been scheduled for Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moberly, MO. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Moberly, MO. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 pm, with a rosary at 6:30 pm, at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home.
