Obituary of Lillian Cerveny

Lillian Cerveny, age 98, of Moberly, MO went to the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Moberly Nursing and Rehab in Moberly, MO. Lillian Irene Skleba was born on April 4, 1920 on the family farm near Wilber, NE to James Skleba and Clara Pracheil Skleba. She graduated from 8th grade, District 88. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. On December 2, 1940 she married Lumir Cerveny in Wilber, NE. Lillian was very active in OATS as a volunteer, serving as Randolph County Chairperson (President) and later as Treasurer. She worked in photo finishing for many years, retiring with over 25 years at Fox Photo. Her family and friends will always remember her as a devoted fan of Nebraska Cornhusker Football. She completely ignored everyone and everything else while the game was on, even expecting holiday dinners to be postponed for her game time. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; her brother, Lumir Skleba and his wife Helen; brother-in-law, Ben Cerveny and his wife Erma. Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Gary) Hunt of Moberly, MO and Cheryl (David) Arnold of Ethelsville, AL; grandchildren, Christopher Berney of Forest City, AR, James (fiancé, Tonya Roddy) Berney of Holts Summit, MO, Douglas (Vicki) Berney of Kansas City, KS, Norman (Lori) King of Minot, ND, Scott (Kristi) King of Arnold, MO, Randy King of Alabaster, AL and Joshua (fiancé, Samantha Brown) Berney of Palmyra, MO; step granddaughters, Theresa (Stephen) Hyatt, Stacey Ingersoll and Lindsay (Matt) Overfelt all of Moberly, MO; great grandchildren, Kristi (fiancé, Derek Burns) Berney, Tyler (Holly) Berney, Amanda (Zach) Stoen, Meagan (fiancé, Larry Paul) King, Ryan (Sarah) King, Sr., Jessica (Nick Chapman) King, Kenzie King, Kyle King, Kyler Berney; step great grandchildren, Kayli, Kelsi, Bradyn and Erik; great great-grandchildren, Abigale, Sophie, Parker, Arianna, Ophelia and Ryan, Jr.; niece Sharon Jelinek; nephews, Rod (Marsha) Skleba and Kenneth (Geralyn) Cerveny; extended family and friends. A funeral service celebrating Lillian’s life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at a future date in Wilber, NE. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Lillian’s honor are suggested to the Higbee Senior Center, 205 Railroad St., Higbee, MO 65257.
