Obituary of Donald E. Benner

Donald E. Benner, 90 of Moberly went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2016 surrounded by his family. Donald Eugene Benner was born July 25, 1925 in Columbia, MO to Arthur and Willie Bell (Durnil) Benner. He moved to Moberly in 1939 and resided there the rest of his life. On July 16, 1949 he married Betty Jane Christian in Moberly, MO. They enjoyed over 60 years together. Survivors include his children, Van (Jan) Benner, Jan (Jerry) Brooks all of Moberly and Renee (Craig) O’Keefe of Ashland. His grandchildren Tara Bowden, Tyler Benner, Keri Benner, Emily Devenport, Jackie Matyas, Melissa Janson, Melinda Reed, Justin Brooks, Caleb O’Keefe, Rachel O’Keefe and Ethan O’Keefe. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren. Donald was a loving husband, father and grandfather and well known for his humor, his quick wit as well as his pranks, and he will always be remembered for his whistling abilities. He never met a stranger and was loved by all that knew him. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, a brother Billy Benner, and an infant daughter Tracy Dean Benner. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.at Pathway Funeral Home in Moberly with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested and appreciated to the First Christian Church of Moberly, 300 E. Coates St., Moberly, MO 65270.
