Obituary of David Michael Kamplain
David Michael Kamplain Sr. 65, of Clifton Hill, Mo passed away on August 14, 2016 at his home. His heart finally wore out loving his family and friends.
He was born July 6, 1951 to Wesley Kamplain and Pauline Coleman Kamplain in St. Louis, Mo.
David devoted his first career to the US Navy as an Electronics Technician, retiring after 20 years in February 1991. He received 4 Good Conduct Medals, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, an M14 Marksman Ribbon, a 38 Caliber Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon and a National Defense Medal. He then moved on to Industrial Electrician, working for several local companies, including Dura Automotive and Brown’s.
He was active in the Huntsville Masonic Lodge and a faithful attendee of AA meetings.
He is survived by his daughter Mercia Schumann of Jacksonville and his son David Michael Kamplain Jr. of Republic, MO; five grandchildren, Tyler Schumann, Kimberly Schumann, Lexi Warren, Cassandra Schumann and Ethan Kamplain; two sisters, Missy McCaskill and Lin Block; and one brother, Wesley Kamplain.
David was an extremely intelligent man with a wry sense of humor and a deep private faith and sense of honor that guided his actions.
He loved books, his dogs and his family – not in that order. We will miss him very much.
In lieu of flowers, donations to AA or the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, MO are suggested.
A graveside service will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. with full military honors and committal.
