Obituary of Raymond L. Hargis
Raymond Laverne Hargis, 74, of Moberly, passed away at his home September 30, 2016. He was born October 22, 1941 in Howard County to Ralph Earl Hargis and Geneva Mae Buckler Hargis. Raymond married Sheila Barcus on February 1, 1964 at the Logan Street Church of Christ in Moberly. He served honorably in the United States Navy for 12 years from 1959 until 1974. During this time, he completed a degree in electrical Engineering at the University of New Mexico. He almost circumnavigated the world while in the Navy. During his career he worked for many years as an electrician at McDonnell Douglas, Caterpillar and MCC- where he retired. Raymond was a deacon at the Logan Street Church of Christ and delivered meals on wheels for many years. He enjoyed the Senior Circle bridge group and loved Boston Terriers.
Those preceding Raymond in death are his father, Ralph Earl Hargis, his mother, Geneva Mae Buckler Hargis Bell, and brother, Henry Vernon Hargis.
He is survived by his wife Sheila J. Hargis; children Traci Ray Hargis (Ricky Ingram) and Ainsley Von Hargis (Tiffany) all of Moberly, Mitch (Janelle) Hargis of Bunker Hill, IL; grandchildren, Ashli E. Jacobs (Mykle) of Chesterfield, MO, Jason Hargis of Bunker Hill, IL, Cleveland, Cole and Holly Hargis all of Moberly, MO, Drew Walley of Colorado, Crystal Turner of Moberly, Kyle Ingram of Tennessee and Patrick Kitchens of Mississippi; twelve great grandchildren; sisters, Earlene and Robert Brandow of Clark and Rhonda Hargis of Moberly; extended family and friends.
A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville at a later date.
