Obituary of Robert Lee Spangler
Robert Lee (Bob) Spangler of Moberly went to be with the Lord on November 8 at his home.
Bob was born in Stansberry, MO to Clarence Robert and Lillian Elizabeth Mae (Hill) Spangler on November 20, 1936. He moved with his parents to Moberly in 1951 where he graduated from high school and met his wife, Mary Evelyn Prewitt. They were married February 18, 1956 at the First Christian Church by Reverend O. C. Wickstrom.
They were the parents of 3 children, Laredo Lee, Mary and Rob Spangler. Bob joined the navy and he served his country until he was given a medical discharge due to a back injury.
Bob worked at Berstead, Orschelns and was assistant manager of Singer warehouse. He was a deputy under Orville Price and most recently retired from Associated Electric where he received an award for courageous response.
Bob was a member of First Christian Church and attended Antioch Church until his health kept him from going. He served as a deacon at First Christian and was on the Antioch Cemetery Board.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters, Mary Ethel Spangler and Darlene Cobb; his son, Laredo Lee and daughter-in-law Judy (Beal) Spangler as well as grandchildren, Shawn Laredo and Amanda Sue Spangler.
His is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn of the home; his son, Rob (Sandra) Spangler; his daughter, Mary (Gary) Herrin; grandchildren, Eddie (Melissa) Lutz, Jeremy (Cassie) Lutz, Matt (Emilee) Suiter, Lance Suiter and Corey (Erica) Powell; great- grandchildren, Tiffany, Brett, Brittany, Daniel, Kyle, Kailyn, Trinity, Lexie, Payton, Skylynn, Jessa, Jacob, Samantha, Alexis, Raylan, Faith, Gavin, Taylor, Sabrina and Lexie; nephews, Randy (Linda) Cobb, Sammy (Dorothy) Cobb and niece Linda (Dave) Coomes.
Services celebrating Bob’s life will be held Friday, November 11, 2016 at First Christian Church at 1:30 p.m. with interment at Antioch Cemetery to follow. Brother, Kevin Keeling will be officiating and assisted by Reverend Jay Self. Visitation will be held from 11:30 until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Bob’s memory are appreciated to the First Christian Church, 300 East Coates Street, Moberly, MO 65270.
