Obituary of Franklin Newkirk
Franklin Newkirk, 73, of Moberly, formerly of O’Fallon, MO, passed away at Moberly Regional Medical Center on April 1, 2017.
Franklin was born to Albert Newkirk and Pansy Duggan Newkirk on May 20, 1943 in Hamilton, MO. Franklin served in the Missouri National Guard and graduated with an Associate degree at Saint Louis Community College where he then began to work as a mechanical engineer at National Vendors. During his time at National Vendors he held 7 patients that he was too modest to tell anyone. He was married to Brenda Moreland Turnbull who survives the home. He was a member of the North Park Baptist Church.
Franklin played football at Penney High School in Hamilton, MO as a Guard. His love for football continued on as an avid fan watching Mizzou games. Bowling was an activity that he enjoyed after work at National Vendors. There are rumors that Franklin bowled a perfect game or two. While in the later years of his life, Franklin took up painting as a pastime and becoming fairly good at it.
Family will remember Franklin as a very strong, stern, and determined yet caring, loving and a kind-hearted person.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Pansy Duggan Newkirk.
He is survived by his children; Albert Newkirk (Angie) of St. Charles, MO, Patricia Hight (Joe) of St. Clair, MO, Quentin Turnbull (Kara) and Scott Turnbull all of Moberly, and Jason Turnbull (Amy) of Elsberry, MO; grandchildren; Sam Newkirk of St. Charles, Skylar, Bryton, and Aurora Hight all of St. Clair, MO, Cameron, Chalise, Chloe Turnbull all of Winfield, MO, Tyler, Kyle, Rylie Turnbull all of Elsberry, MO, and Lauren and Aaron Powell of Moberly; brother Dennis Newkirk (Debbie) of Bonne Terre, extended family and friends,

A memorial service for Franklin will be held Friday, April 7th at 10 am at North Park Baptist Church, 401 Franklin Ave, Moberly, MO 65270. Family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
