Obituary of Dorothy M. Austin

Dorothy M. Austin, 88 of Moberly, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Moberly Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born June 13, 1928 in South San Francisco, CA to Nephi Martin and Lucille Nelson Martin. On June 25, 1949, she married Richard C. Austin. Dorothy worked for many years as a switchboard operator and homemaker. She enjoyed volunteering at the temple in Oakland, CA and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dorothy taught herself to crochet and made over 2,000 baby hats for premature infants. She liked to garden and loved spending time with her family. Those preceding Dorothy in death are her husband; her parents; her grandparents and a brother, Richard Nephi Martin. Survivors include her children, Kathy (John) Perkins and Richard Austin all of Huntsville, MO and Kendra (Wayne) Severinsen of Fremont, CA; grandchildren, Sandy (Scott) Decker of Columbia, MO and David Severinsen of Fremont, CA; many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Moberly, MO.
