Obituary of Charles Wayne Davidson
Charles Wayne Davidson, 80, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Moberly, MO passed away July 31, 2017 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL.
Charles was born January 22, 1937 in Moberly, MO to Charles Marion and Esther Mae (Nichols) Davidson.
Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1955 – 1957. He was an engineer for the Norfolk Southern Railroad for 25 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, FL. He worked hard and played harder, and knew no strangers. He loved all outdoor sports including the beach, water skiing, fishing and hunting.
Charles married Ibia Mathis on August 16, 1959 and she survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Stacy Davidson of Grain Valley, MO, and Stephanie and Dr. Charles Sutherland of Columbia, MO, granddaughter Amanda (Michael) Richardson of Port St. Lucie, FL, and two great grandchildren, Aaliyah and Preston Richardson. Additional survivors include nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charles was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother, Gail L. Davidson.
Visitation will be held at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00. Inurnment will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at noon at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
