Obituary of James Musick

James (Jim) Musick, 76, of Moberly, passed away September 14, 2017 at Meadow Ridge Estates. Jim was born to James O. Musick and Bernice E. Munyon on December 23, 1940 in Agra, Kansas. He moved with his family to Moberly in 1943 and attended Moberly High School and MACC (then Moberly Junior College). He enjoyed his college career where he became involved in college politics and became a lifetime fan of the Moberly Greyhounds. After graduating from MACC he transferred to Northeast Missouri State University where he received his Bachelor of Science and later his Masters degree. He did post-graduate studies at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL and the University of Missouri-Columbia. Jim was united in marriage to Janice Bennett in Moberly in 1962. He was a teacher and counselor at Mexico, MO for seven years and then a counselor in Keokuk, IA for three years. He began work as a counselor at MACC in July of 1972. In July of 1978 Jim took the position of Dean of Student Services at MACC where he retired after 20 years. After retirement, Jim went to work as a probation and parole officer for five years and later went to work half days at the Moberly Middle School as a career teacher. Jim was known by many for his grand sense of humor and willingness to help others. He was a member and elder of the Central Christian Church in Moberly. When not working, Jim enjoyed woodworking, traveling and being with his family. Those preceding Jim in death are his parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Marlene Stewart and Vernon Stewart. He is survived by his wife Janice, of the home; children, Dana (Brian) McCune of Higbee and Dennis Musick of Moberly; grandchildren, Brianne Klostermann, of Moberly, Lacey (Jason) Henry of Pattonsberg, MO, Kenneth Clem and Jared House both of Springfield, Shelby House and fiancee` Brett Wallace of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Madyson andKendyl Klostermann of Moberly and Helena Henry of Pattensberg, brother-in-law Gary Rippel of Salisbury, nieces, Nola Stewart and Sara Stewart and great niece Paige Stewart, extended family and many friends. Funeral services for Jim will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly. Visitation will be from 2:00 until time of service. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Christos Center, 111 N. 5th Street, Moberly, MO; Senior American Multi-Purpose Center, 205 Farror, Moberly, MO; MACC Foundation, 101 College Avenue, Moberly, MO or donor’s choice.
