Obituary of Gary Bailey

Dr. Gary D. Bailey,67, Moberly, MO, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 26, 2017. Gary was born in Irvine, KY to Woodrow and Margaret (Fike) Bailey. In May, 1970 he married Judy Stoner Bailey. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Woody D. Bailey of Marion, OH and a sister, Sue Mattix of Cardington, OH. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jason (Veronica) Bailey and Josh Bailey both of Moberly, MO; two grandchildren, Harley and Katherine Bailey of Moberly, MO; a brother, Carnell (Sharon) Bailey of Edison, OH; a sister, Angie Walters of Lexington, OH and several nieces and nephews. Gary was a graduate of Central Christian College of the Bible and received a Master’s degree from Ashland University in Ashland, OH. He took graduate classes in classics at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. He also received a PhD in Biblical studies at the Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport, LA. He was an instructor at Central Christian College and taught classes at Moberly Junior College. He was an English instructor at Higbee R-8 High School for 15 years. Gary has held various ministries in Missouri, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. He was currently serving as the minister of Montgomery City Christian Church in Montgomery City, MO. Dr. Bailey loved his family and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. Gary loved teaching and his students. He enjoyed music and played the drums in different bands for several years. He enjoyed jogging and participated in several races. He enjoyed camping and led several backpack trips in the Rocky Mountains. He and Judy took several motorcycle trips across the country. Services celebrating Dr. Bailey’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3:30 at Hagar Cemetery in Huntsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Greek Department of Central Christian College of the Bible, 911 E. Urbandale Drive, Moberly, MO 65270.

Visitation

There will be no visitation before the service, but guests will have time to pay their respects following the service.
