Eldon , whom I drank many a cup of coffee with, was one of finest persons I have ever known. He had a passion for gardening as the number of raised garden beds in his back yard attested too. In my mind , as his neighbor, part of me still expects to see him sitting on a small stool, that I made for him , working on his raised garden beds. I will miss him as a friend and neighbor.
Eldon was well versed on the News , and , like all intelligent people, he was skeptical about politics and politicians. Furthermore, he thought that the amount of money our government was spending was scary.
Eldon participated in security for his church, and he was proud to be a part of that group. When he read the news, he observed that there was a growing number of violent incidences at churches. He had a sense of duty, as others in the security group did, in protecting his fellow parishioners from the violent actions of others. He was proud of the men and women who dedicated a part of their time to the service and protection of others in their Church.
As a fly fisherman, he tied his own flies. He was meticulous whether it came to tying flies, working on clocks, or repairing watches. He also taught others how to fly fish. Often, if a person wasn't having any luck catching fish with a fly and Eldon was, Eldon would give him or her a copy of the fly he was using , and , not surprising, they would start catching fish.
He and his wife were proud of Mark , his son , and Aiden and Keegan their grand children. He and his wife loved being with them , as can be seen , in the numerous fishing adventures they shared with them at Bennett Springs.
I don't think I have done Eldon much service in writing so little about him. Mind you, I suspect that this is true for many deceased people.
